Choose MAKO for supported surface swimming and pool use; MANTA for balanced handheld propulsion during snorkeling and recreational diving; MANTA 2 when you want more speed, thrust, and low-speed runtime; and U1 when you need a powerful diving scooter that can also assist a SUP, kayak, or inflatable boat. Always compare the product specifications, because control style, battery capacity, runtime, and depth rating vary by model.
“Underwater scooter” and “sea scooter” commonly describe electric devices that help propel a swimmer through the water. “Water scooter” is a broader term that may also include surface devices, while “DPV” usually refers to a dive-focused propulsion vehicle. In the ASIWO lineup, MAKO is a buoyant surface kickboard, MANTA and MANTA 2 are handheld sea scooters, and U1 is a diving and board-propulsion system.
Every model in this collection uses rechargeable electric propulsion, but the control format differs. MANTA and MANTA 2 are handheld scooters, MAKO is a buoyant kickboard operated with side controls, and U1 can be held underwater or mounted to a compatible board with the appropriate adapter.
They can be used in fresh water, pools, and salt water when conditions and local rules allow. MAKO is designed for surface swimming rather than diving; MANTA and MANTA 2 have a 40 m device depth rating, while U1 has a 50 m rating. A device rating is not a recommended diving depth—stay within your training, ability, and water conditions. After pool or saltwater use, rinse the scooter thoroughly with fresh water and let it dry before opening the battery area.
MAKO is the clearest beginner-oriented option in the current lineup. An underwater scooter is not a flotation or lifesaving device. Younger riders and inexperienced swimmers should use only a model permitted by its manual, under close adult supervision and in controlled water. The current MANTA 2 manual specifies age 14+.
Published maximum runtime varies by model and speed setting: up to 60 minutes for MAKO, 35 minutes for MANTA, 90 minutes for MANTA 2, and 60 minutes for U1. Higher speeds, rider load, water conditions, and temperature can reduce runtime, so these figures should be treated as upper limits rather than guaranteed session lengths.
